3rd Slow Food Earth Market in Barcelona
Food waste marks the third edition of the Slow Food Earth Market in Barcelona
On Saturday 10th October, from 10 to 16h, Slow Food Barcelona will reoccupy the Three Chimneys’ park at Barcelona’s Poble Sec, the third edition of the Slow Food Earth Markets. Thirty producers grouped around the space with a clear message this year: food waste. The aim is to raise awareness of the problem of food waste, both environmental and economic. Some data of the importance for us to take action around this concept: 260,000 tons of food are thrown in good condition every year in Catalonia.
In addition producers can sample culinary creations with a series of Food Trucks with the element of exploitation at the heart of their creations. A cookery workshop with utilization of surplus products; and plenty of information at lunch in Poble Sec; a talk with producers; and the collaboration of “Som gent de profit” will close an intense morning. There will be Slow Kids activities with their Magic van.
This will be the third market of the Earth (which will return on November 14 and December 12), including an international network of markets farmers only food good, clean and fair, based on local foods of good quality , seasonal, obtained with traditional processes that respect the environment and work the land, and have a fair price both for clients and for those who produce them.
